Property Information & Advice > Removal Services

Whether you require a removal company or do-it-yourself is upto you. If you decide to hire a removal company to do the hard work compare prices of different companies. If your moving quite a distance its worth getting in touch with removal companies in the area your moving to as they might charge less.

If your doing it yourself, you'll need to hire a removal van, assess how big a van you require and make sure you have planty of people to help you load and unload your possession.

Packing tips

Ensure you have plenty of boxes, cartons, containers, tape, bubble wrap, paper and labels to store and label your possessions in while moving.

Do not under or overfill boxes, if too heavy they'll be difficult to lift, if half emprt they will collapse if a heavier box is placed on top.

Place your heavier and solid possession at the bottom and lighter softer items at the top.

It's ideal to use plain paper to wrap your delicate items as newsprint rubs off, if you don't have plain paper use a layer of kitchen roll then newspaper.

Label all boxes, whats in them and where they belong, makes it easier to sort out.

Place all liquids in leakproof containers and then plastic bags to prevent spillage damage.

Keep all important documents and items (e.g medication) in a safe place where you can get to them asap if needed.
