Roaming estate agents could be the future

Fri, 20 Feb 2009
According to estate agent news, mobile estate agents could be the future of estate agency . With the slowdown in the housing market making the property industry a grim place to be right now, many estate agents are looking for different ways to aid in the buying and selling of homes.

One estate agents chain with 24 branches is recruiting 750 staff members. The new estate agents will be mobile operators who work from their cars and homes.

Hunters managing director Kevin Hollinrake reportedly commented: "It will be a better informed and possibly cheaper service to the public. Each agent will have a small patch of no more than 5,000 homes so will know what schools the local kids go to, whether the left-hand side of a street is more expensive than the right-hand side, and will know every home on sale in an area."

He reportedly continued: "We've one agent in York who used to have a three-person office, so spent time managing people and premises as well as selling. Now he's in the field and has a bigger order book than before, despite the slowdown."
