According to reports in the estate agent news, the housing market is now being controlled by the buyer, with those fortunate enough to be buying a house able to get significant reductions in price.
Nationwide indicate that houses have slumped by 14.6 per cent in the year to October, with a 1.4 per cent fall in the month itself. Average property prices in the UK are now a little short of 160,000 pounds.
According to some estate agents, buyers are trying to cut offers considerably in the hope of getting good deals. Purchasers are reportedly not considering the asking price as an offer guide, and are instead using it as a basis for negotiation.
