Britains Willing to Pay GBP 4,800 for Car Parking

Wed, 25 Jul 2007
A safe parking space can increase the price of a property significantly.

Halifax Estate Agents ' figures highlight that the average Briton is willing to pay £4,800 more for a property with a safe parking spot, with 1% willing to pay £50,000 plus.

Should you be selling your home, ensure that any parking facilities are presented to reflect their potential use.

That means, for example, clean your garage out so it is clear that there is enough space for a car and ensure driveways are weed free and clear of rubbish.

Nearly 68% are willing to pay more for a property with a designated parking space or driveway.

Older homeowners are willing to pay for a safe parking bay; 75% of homebuyers aged 55-64 pay more for secure parking compared to 43% of 16-24 year olds. Just one 35 to 44 year old in eleven will not pay extra for a home with a designated parking area.

The average amount people wish to pay for safe parking is £4,800. Furthermore, 1 buyer in 9 is willing to pay between £5,000 and £10,000 extra while 1 person in 25 would pay between £10,000 and £15,000.
