House prices went up by £679 in England and Wales last month.
So FT figures for show house prices continued to increase last month, rising by 0.3 per cent to reach an average of £223,035.
Since July last year your average property costs 9% more. Should you take London out of the picture, this figure goes down to 7.3%.

The housing market is expected to slow as the year goes on, with the effect of successive interest rate increases working their way through the system.
The Bank of England's recent decision to keep a hold on rates was welcome given the situation of more arrears and possessions as well as the continued uncertainty created by the problems in the US sub prime market.
