House Price Growth Up 8 Per Cent

House prices in September were 8% higher than last year, the Department for Communities and Local Government reports.

Annual house price growth went up to 8% in September.

The average UK house price to £198,552.

First time buyers feel a better off than others moving home; the average value of a first time buyer home going up 7.7% since 2005 to £152,633, DCLG figures highlight

House price growth increased Scotland, Wales and England in September, even though Northern Ireland experienced a slight decrease in the annual growth rate.

Northen Ireland prices are going up faster than elsewhere in the UK, with the average Northern Irish property worth 23.6% more than September last year.

This figure is more than double that of the annual growth rate in England (7.2%) as well as Wales (10.3%), and much higher than Scottish house price growth (12.9%).
