Brits Invest More and More in Buy To Let

Mon, 17 Jul 2006
Britons are investing in property more and more, Standard Life’s savings and investment index shows.

Buy to let property is now 35% more popular than 12 weeks ago as that is where Brits put their spare money .

Instead of savings and investments, Brits like to invest in bricks and mortar. We seem to prefer the security of literally something concrete.

8% more Brits want to use their savings for things other than those rainy days.

Many people raid their savings in order to fund holidays . 12 weeks ago 22% of people intended to use their savings for a holiday, this has now increased to 30%. Astonishingly, savings are not viewed as that which ought to be left to multiply, but, a bigger piggy bank in which we can dip into as needs be.

Holidays and home improvements appear to take centre stage compared to savings.

We need to ensure that we have saved for those rainy days as well as our retirement . Otherwise, we may find that we do not have enough by way of finance to tide ourselves over.
