Rents Rise in Northern Regions

Wed, 04 Jan 2006
Property investors in northern regions are seeing property values and rental income rise faster than their counterparts in the south.

Paragon Mortgages buy-to-let index illustrates that investors in the northern regions also receive greater benefits from higher average total returns than their counterparts in the south.

Property values in northern regions are more stable than those in the south, so overall returns remain stronger.

Northern landlords are seeing returns of over 30%, compared to a really low national average of 7.6%.

There is of course a clear north-south distinction in the figures, with southern regions seeing a modest decline in property values and yields.

Property values increased throughout the north, with northern regions recording better yields than southern ones.

The north and the north-west are generating the highest overall UK return, 31% and 24% respectively.
