Housebuyers Not Likely to Buy at Christmas

Mon, 18 Dec 2006
Yorkshire Bank research shows that a quarter of homebuyers are not keen on making offers if the neighbouring house is lit up as per Blackpool Illuminations. 13% of Brits decorate outside as well as inside their homes. So this could have a great impact on sellers.

Should your neighbour's house look like Santa's Grotto this could mean that are likely to struggle to attain that desired curb appeal presenters like Kirstie Allsop refer to as vital in selling your home .

Research shows that half of us like to see festive fairy lights, two fifths of us would not want to live next door to anyone who has a giant reindeer and an elf collection each festive season.

Do not despair though should your neighbour have a giant glowing Santa on their chimney. A fifth of people think houses with Christmas lights illustrate that the neighbourhood is friendly.

There are plenty of people who like having neighbours who get into the Christmas spirit.
