New research from The One Account highlights that we spend half our income on just paying our mortgages .
Once we have handed 50% of our income to mortgage lenders, 60% of us work unpaid overtime to maintain our lifestyles .
We are experiencing increasing financial problems trying to maintain a work/life balance.
We are so busy concentrating on job security that we forget to take good care of ourselves or maintain an active social/family life outside work.
86% of us stated due to our mortgage commitments we do overtime in order to ensure job security .
As we are so office bound, we cease to pursue hobbies or leisure activities.
Nearly half of us spend no time at all on hobbies, with 44% saying it affects our love life, and 29% of us mortgage holders state that we do not get enough sleep.
Two fifths of us spend less time keeping fit than we would like to, with 30% of us eating convenience foods as opposed to more healthy meals.
